On this day, August 29th, in 1966, The Beatles played their final live concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. Backlash from John Lennon’s comment of, ‘The Beatles being more popular than Jesus,’ had taken its tole and on that night, of the 42,00 available seats only 25,000 tickets were sold. The legendary band would meet to play one last time on top the roof of the Apple building at 3 Savile Row, London, which would mark their final live performance. The concert lives on from a recording taken by the band’s press officer, Tony Barrow, on a handheld recording. Check out the audio from that show here.
