It’s Fat Tuesday, Marti Gras and of course Paczki Day!  For those who don’t know, The Paczki (pronounced poonch-kee) is a Polish treat made of a very rich fried dough.  These yummy confections are filled with creams, fruits and jams and often powdered on top.  With Chicago’s large Polish population, the tradition has found its place in the city…so you might notice they become high in demand today.

NBC 5 Chicago has produced a list of 10 Places to Get Paczkis on Fat Tuesday that details several places around the area with some of the best Pachkis around [Click Here for That Link].  Their list include the best times to get some of these delicious treats.  Notably, are Do-Rite Doughnuts (their doughnuts are outstanding so just imagine their Paczkis) and Bennison’s Bakery who’s variety includes prune, apricot, cheese, raspberry, custard, apple, lemon curd, Fresh Strawberry with Whipped Cream, Praline Chocolate Mousse, fresh banana cream and German chocolate!
