Paul Mccartney Isn’t Sure ‘Sgt. Pepper’ Is The Beatles’ Best Album

Earlier this month, the new stereo mix of the BeatlesSgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band hit Number One on the UK album charts and topped out at Number Three in the U.S. Despite the hoopla and the accolades the album has received upon its 50th anniversary this month, Paul McCartney can’t call it the Beatles’ best album.

During a chat with Mojo, “Macca” was asked the inevitable question and explained, “I think it’s the most influential Beatles album… Perhaps it’s the most important, but not necessarily the best. Revolver had some special moments on it. What’s called ‘The White Album’ had some very important moments on it. And Abbey Road. There are other albums as good in different ways. But Pepper is the most noticeable Beatles album because it was so different, and such a change from what was going on at the time.”
