The Eagles are packaging their two multi-platinum greatest hits collections together for the first time ever, with the set now renamed, Eagles Greatest Hits 1 & 2. The package will be released on July 14th as a tie-in to the band’s Classic East/West concerts in Los Angeles and New York City. A vinyl version of the set will become available on August 18th. The band’s first compilation, Eagles/Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, was originally released on February 17th, 1976 and went on to top the Billboard 200 album charts the following March 13th for five non-consecutive weeks.
Eagles/Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 currently stands as the second-best selling album of all time, with 29 million units sold — four million less than the top seller, Michael Jackson‘s 1982 masterpiece, Thriller. 1982’s Eagles Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 was released on November 13th, 1982, and although it stalled on the Billboard charts at Number 52, the set has sold a whopping 11 million copies to date.
