Happy Birthday to the Beatles‘ Ringo Starr, who turns 77 today (July 7th)!!! Ringo is celebrating today in Los Angeles, and once again, for the ninth straight year, Ringo has invited family, friends and the public to come together in a moment of Peace & Love at 12 Noon PST. This annual event will take place in front of Hollywood’s Capitol Records Tower. Ringo also invites everyone everywhere to think, say, or post “#PeaceandLove” at noon their local time, thus generating “a wave of Peace & Love that moves over the planet on July 7th starting at noon in New Zealand and ending at noon in Hawaii.”
Ringo has been periodically posting photos of the musicians contributing to his upcoming album due out later this year, which so far also features cameos from Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, the Eagles‘ Timothy B. Schmit, Shelia E., the Heartbreakers‘ Benmont Tench, longtime Eric Clapton bassist Nathan East, Mr. Mister‘s Richard Page, and Brian Wilson‘s Smile album collaborator, Van Dyke Parks. No release date has been announced for the still untitled set.
Back in January, Ringo released a new track, titled, “Now The Time Has Come.” Last September, Ringo teamed up with the United Nations and released the video for the track in commemoration of International Day of Peace. The song is now available to download in two versions — one by Ringo and friends and another with Ringo, friends, and Latin artist Fonseca. The track also features lead vocals by Ringo, Mr. Mister’s Richard Page, along with former All Starr, Men At Work leader Colin Hay, and Billy Valentine.
