James Taylor will headline at the upcoming “Harvey Can’t Mess With Texas: A Benefit Concert For Hurricane Harvey Relief,” benefit concert, set for September 22 at Austin’s Frank Erwin Center. He will joined by fellow Classic Hits Artists, Paul Simon, Bonnie Raitt, and Willie Nelson. The Austin American-Statesman posted: “Tickets to the four-hour concert, which runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will air live on TEGNA stations (including Austin’s KVUE-TV), (and) go on sale via RebuildTX.org for $30 to $199.” Rolling Stone posted Google will match donations up to $500,000.
Among the other performers on the bill are Leon Bridges, Lyle Lovett, Asleep At The Wheel, and Paul Simon’s wife Edie Brickell, who’ll perform with her band, the Dallas-based New Bohemians. Bob Dylan‘s longtime guitarist Charlie Sexton will serve as the show’s musical director, with such notables expected to appear as Matthew McConaughey, Dan Rather, Renee Zellweger, Luke Wilson, Austin Mayor Steve Adler, and Houston Chief of Police Art Acevedo, among others.
