The Lincoln Park Zoo hatched this new baby penguin

The Lincoln Park Zoo hatched it’s first endangered African penguin.  The chick was hatched and reared at the Robert and Mayari Pritzker Penguin Cove where it has since been taken under the wing (pun unintentional) of it’s parents, Robben and Preston.  According to the zoo, they’re natural parents.

The new baby penguin joins the Saving Animals From Extinction program that is working to prevent the African penguin population safe.  The wild African penguin total has fallen to around 25,000.  Hopefully this new baby penguin will be the first of many to pick up those numbers.
