If you were hoping to buy some rat meat, you’re out of luck! U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials at O’Hare Airport have confirmed they seized 32 pounds of rat meat from a passenger arriving at the airport from Africa last month. The passenger actually declared the rat meat after arriving on June 26th. The issues with imported meats is the possibility of introducing African Swine Fever, and other contagious diseases, into the U.S. The passenger was not fined, but the meat was destroyed.
