First White Sox game with extended nets is TONIGHT

The Chicago White Sox will debut their extended netting at tonight’s game against the Miami Marlins.  The netting now runs all the way to the foul poles at Guaranteed Rate Field.

This makes the Chicago White Sox the first major league team to extend their netting to the foul poles. All 30 MLB teams had extended the protective netting to at least the far ends of the dugouts by the start of the 2018 season, following recommendations by the league after several fans were injured by foul balls and even part of a broken bat in 2017. But after a couple of fan injuries got attention this spring that were caused by balls hit in the stands beyond the dugout, the White Sox have decided to expand the netting to the foul poles.

The game starts at 7:10PM tonight!
