The 93rd annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will kick off at later this Thanksgiving morning (Broadcast begins at 8AM), featuring the iconic giant helium character balloons, floats, marching bands, dancers, clowns, celebrities, Broadway show performances, the Radio City Rockettes, and much more before ending with the traditional arrival of Santa Claus to usher in the holiday season. The nationally-televised parade will wind its way down a route through the streets of Manhattan before ending at Macy’s flagship store on 34th Street.
The iconic giant helium balloons may not have flown this year due to high winds. They mayor of New York, however, has said they’re flying this year!
There are 16 giant balloons set for this year, including new additions:
- Astronaut Snoopy
- Green Eggs and Ham by Netflix
- SpongeBob SquarePants & Gary by Nickelodeon
- Smokey Bear is making a return in celebration of his 75th birthday!
Moreover, the first hour of the broadcast will include live performances from the Broadway musicals: Tina: The Tina Turner Musical; Hadestown; Beetlejuice; and Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations. There will also be a pre-recorded performance from the cast of Broadway’s Mean Girls.
