In 2009, London-based insurance broker, Willis Group Holdings bought some space in The Sears Tower and then got to remain the iconic Chicago building.  That’s right, a foreign company got to change The Sears Tower’s name to Willis…  Well, we may be seeing that building get another name-change.

Aon is buying Willis Towers Watson (yeah, even Willis Group Holdings got a name-change).  The thing is, there’s already the Aon Center in Chicago.  So, it may be confusing if Aon decides to change the tower’s name to “The Aon Tower.”  I mean, if you ask Siri to take you to Aon, you may get a 50:50 shot of getting the building you wanted.

There’s no confirmation that the tower’s name will in fact change.  But, if Aon wants to become REALLY popular with Chicagoans, they may want to consider making it officially, “The Sears Tower,” again.  Sure, the name belongs to a different company, but we’ll all know who made it so!
