Running for seven days in all, Rock in Rio is being welcomed by the city as a chance to put the huge facilities built for the 2016 Olympic Games back in use. Bon Jovi has scrapped its 18-date North American run with special guest Bryan Adams due to the ongoing pandemic. The shows were set to kick off on June 10th in Tacoma, Washington with the arena run wrapping on July 28th in New York City. Bon Jovi has also postponed the release of its latest album, which was due out on May 18th. So far, no new street date for the set has been announced.
The band issued a statement announcing the tour’s cancellation:
Due to the ongoing global pandemic, it is no longer feasible for Bon Jovi to tour this summer. Given these difficult times, we have made the decision to cancel the tour entirely. This will enable ticketholders to get refunds to help pay their bills or buy groceries. These are trying times. You’ve always been there for us and we’ll always be there for you. We look forward to seeing everyone again on tour when we can all safely be together. We will continue to send out news and updates on Bon Jovi.
Jon Bon Jovi will appear tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 22nd) at the multimedia Jersey 4 Jersey fundraiser, which will feature home performances by himself and Bruce Springsteen, among others.
Bon Jovi revealed in a recent interview he’ll be tackling the fan-assisted tune “Do What You Can” that he recently premiered online, along with “Livin” On Prayer.”
