Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell has just released a new single and video called “Lockdown.” The one-man-band effort is based on our collective self-quarantine — with the profits going to charity.

Campbell posted a message to fans of his solo band’s website, TheDirtyKnobs.com, which reads in part:

I came up with “Lockdown” for fun. Everyone around me (including my wife Marcie, who helped with the recording and shot the video footage) loved the song, so I’m putting it out for people to enjoy and to raise some money for Feeding America. It feels good to do something positive to help in this time of crisis.

So we hope this gives you a smile and takes your mind off the dark times for a few minutes. If you download the song for $1 or more you’ll be contributing to Feeding America and if you donate $20 or more we will send you a limited edition Lockdown bandana which you can use to cover your face and as a fun memento of these times.

Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs will release their debut studio album, Wreckless Abandon on September 18th. During a new chat with Goldmine, Campbell was asked if there’s anything the works regarding upcoming archival Tom Petty projects: “There is. Right now, we’re working on a Wildflowers reissue, which has some leftover tracks that are really good. I think it’s going to be three or four discs. One disc will just be some demos Tom did for the album — songs that never made the record that are really cute, with just him doing all of the instruments.”

He went on to say, “And there may be a few live things. Back in 1999, I think, we did a stand at the Fillmore West that was good, and I know there’s a live album there. So yeah, there are live albums to come out, and there are studio tracks that haven’t been heard yet. We’re going through those and trying to honor Tom’s memory the best we can.”

Campbell, who now serves as Fleetwood Mac‘s lead guitarist, gave an update on where the band stands after a massive world tour, explaining, “We’re on a hiatus. It was a great joy for me, and Neil (Finn) and I did the best we could to honor those songs, and I think we did a pretty good job. The tour was way successful, but it was very long. We had a meeting at the end of the tour, and everybody said, ‘That’s probably the last time we’ll do a long tour like that.’ But we left the door open that if a handful of gigs come up in the future, we’re open to get together and do those.”
