Guinness World Record awarded for highest library book fine ever paid

Emily Canellos-Simms has received the Guinness World Record for the largest book fine ever paid after paying $345.14, even though she wasn’t the one who actually borrowed the book. She actually found the book, Days and Deeds, in her mother’s house. The book was due back at the Kewanee Public Library in Illinois on April 19th, 1955. The fine had accumulated at two cents a day when it was paid 47 years later.
