Pequod’s ranked #2 on list of 101 best pizzas in the nation

The Daily Meal gave us our daily feed and then some with a massive list of the 101 best pizzas in ranked.  Needless to say, that’s A LOT of cheese!  To surprise, Chicago landed on the list several times, but the city’s highest rated pizza might surprise you.  The #2 listed pizza on the entire list is Pequod’s which is well known for it’s “cast-iron pan-style pie with a caramelized crust edge.”  Shout out to the late Burt Katz, who first opened Pequod’s, for giving the world this very tasty and unique style of deep dish pizza.

Other Chicago notables that made the list include Piece in the #10 spot that specializes in New Haven-style pizza, Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria at #22, Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana taking the #27 spot, Vito & Nick‘s ranked at #46 and Bonci at #82.  The only pizza that beat out Pequod’s for the #1 spot was Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven, Connecticut which, you guessed it, specializes in New Haven-style pizza.

So, how well did they do on their list?  You can check it out at TheDailyMeal.com.
