Happy birthday to the one-and-only, Kenny Loggins.  The Classic Hits legend got his start in the ’70s and went on to create some of the most iconic songs of the 1980s!

Here’s just 5 hits, in no particular order, worth listening to again today on Kenny Loggins’ birthday..

1. Footloose (1984) – The iconic theme song to the movie of the same name can be heard multiple times throughout the film, forever cementing Kevin Bacon dancing in our minds when we hear this single.  In 2018, the “Footloose” song was officially preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress.

2. This Is It (1979) – “Make no mistake,” in saying Loggins can’t make disco sound cool.  Need evidence of it?  Well, THIS IS IT!  Michael McDonald provides vocals in this Grammy-winning single.

3. I’m Alright (1980) – The memorable theme to Caddy Shack is an anthem to those who can make it through anything… especially gophers on a golf course.  The late Eddie Money can be heard in the background vocals of the chorus of this song.

4. Whenever I Call You “Friend” (1978) – Loggins’ first solo hit was oddly enough, a duet with Stevie Nicks (who initially went uncredited for the song).  She’s very hard to miss in this song…

Danger Zone (1986) – Welcome to the Danger Zone!  The song that’s most remembered as the theme to the ’86 film, Topgun, is a hit that makes you wish your car could move as fast as an F-14A Tomcat whenever it plays on your radio.  The tune dominated the pop charts and remains one of the most iconic songs of the 1980s!
