The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC) have released a hotdog etiquette guide that finally declares that ketchup should not go on your hot dog.
The NHDSC take their hot dogs SERIOUSLY. So seriously that they have their own set of rules of etiquette for eating hot dogs. They say, “Don’t use ketchup on your hot dog after the age of 18,” stating that mustard, relish, onions, cheese and chili are acceptable to add to your hot dog.
Other notable additions to these rules of etiquette include, “Utensils should not touch hot dogs on buns,” “Condiments remaining on the fingers after eating a hot dog should be licked away, not washed,” and “Don’t leave bits of bun on your plate. Eat it all.”
