Queen was the most-played rock band on the radio last year around the whole world.  But across all genres, they placed fourth according to the analytics service Viberate.

The top three were Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, and The Weeknd.  Out of over 24,000 radio stations in 150 different countries, pop music was the most popular genre with 141 million plays, and rock came in second with 79.7 million plays.

On Spotify, rock ranked fourth (31.8 billion streams) after pop (145 billion), hip-hop (83.2 billion), and Latin (55.9 billion).

YouTube had similar statistics with rock music also ranking fourth (8.9 billion views) behind pop (71 billion), Latin (54.9 billion), and hip-hop (44.9 billion).

Viberate’s report says the numbers show that rock music is “resurrected”, and it’s all thanks to artists who typically wouldn’t be considered in the genre like Olivia Rodrigo and Machine Gun Kelly.
