Can you really imagine anyone but Bruce Willis saying, “Yippee ki yay, mother f-er”? Well if history were just a little different, old blue eyes or Mr. Universe could have uttered that iconic quote.
Both Frank Sinatra and Arnold Schwarzenegger were offered the role of John McClain in Die Hard before Bruce Willis was even considered. And both stars turned the role down!

Schwarzenegger makes sense: he was one of the biggest action stars at the time. But Frank Sinatra?
Turns out, Sinatra played John Leland in a 70s film, “The Detective.” And he had the sequel rights… which would eventually be the spiritual sequel, “Die Hard.” Because of this, Frank Sinatra was asked first to star in the film. He turned it down because he was already in his 70s. No offense to Frank, but that was a great decision for everyone!
Eventually, the star of the comedy-drama TV series, Moonlighting, would accept the role of John McClain and make movie history by making one of the best CHRISTMAS-action movies ever. Yes, Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
