A $1.3 billion Mega Millions winning ticket has yet to be claimed. The ticket was purchased at a gas station in Des Plaines. It’s the second largest jackpot in Mega Millions history!

But the lucky winner is running out of time to claim the prize in a lump sum. If they don’t come forward by September 27th, they can only select the option to receive the funds spread out over time.

“We don’t know whether or not they even know that they won a prize,” Lottery Director Harold Mays said. Mays mentioned sometimes people who have won big do not come forward immediately as they process their feelings.
