If you commute via Metra or Amtrak, you might want to ride with a friend or get an Uber on Friday…
Freight rail workers are planning to strike Friday, September 16th. The workers are demanding higher pay, renegotiation of strict attendance, and more for paid leave.
So why would this affect rail commuters? If you ride the BNSF, Union Pacific North, Union Pacific Northwest, or Union Pacific West line, you are riding on a railway owned and operated by freight rail. Which means there would be no service on those lines.
Maybe take the day off: it’s a Friday!
