You would think having to run less would be preferred… but apparently not if you’re a runner.
Runners were unhappy to find out that the 13.1-mile HOKA Chicago Half Marathon was cut by half a mile. That doesn’t seem like much, but to Joe Fletcher, it was way more than… well, a half mile! Runner Fletcher’s lucky number is 13, so losing that half a mile hurt.

With the 25th Anniversary of our amazing race on the horizon, we feel confident enough to improve these rankings for next year. #ChiHalf25 #RunChi #LTAthleticEvents pic.twitter.com/PEAY56NSkx
Other runners who trained for the full 13.1 miles also felt shorted by the last-minute cut. The cut came after a change to the course due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
