Naming contest for Montrose Beach Piping Plover chicks

The newest residents of Montrose Beach are in need of names.

The Chicago Bird Alliance, the Chicago Ornithological Society and the Illinois Ornithological Society are sponsoring a contest to find a name for four endangered Piping Plover chicks that recently hatched at the Monty and Rose Wildlife Habitat at Montrose Beach Dunes. The parents are Sea Rocket and Monty and Rose‘s son, Imani.

Per the contest rules, entrants have until July 11 to suggest up to four names that reflect Chicago’s heritage, culture and diversity. The names submitted may not be the name of an elected official or political figure, the groups say.

Entries are to be made through this online Google form.
