Chicago Pizzeria named among best in the world, according to TimeOut

Pizza, the gift that keeps on giving.

Arguably one of the most universally beloved foods, pizza also elicits a variety of reactions from people worldwide. Italians often claim ownership of the creation, but folks around the globe have been putting their own spin on the delicacy for decades now—including Chicagoans.

Chicago deep dish pizza, after all, has become a food type in its own right. While it’s still part of the pizza family, it almost tastes entirely different from other versions.

When ranking the best pizzas in the world, then, the Time Out team had many factors to consider: The thinness of the crust, the crispiness of the base and the doughiness of the, well, dough. Not to mention toppings, cooking methods and more.

While the classic Pizza Margherita from Pizzeria da Attilio in Naples claimed the top spot in the new rankings, which you can browse through in full right here, Chicago made a respectable appearance at No. 11 with Milly’s Pizza in the Pan, a pandemic-era-born pizzeria in Uptown and Berwyn owned by Robert Maleski.
