Chicago Shelters Taking In Stranded Houston Pets

Hurricane Harvey has not only affect so many people who live in Houston, but the animals there as well.  Chicago animal organizations, like our friends at PAWS Chicago, have been actively making room for animals at their shelters for surviving animals of the hurricane.  Paula Fasseas of PAWS Chicago told the Chicago Tribune, “We could easily bring in from 60 to 100. We’ve got the space for that.  They need help and we’re going to continue.  This is going to be a huge influx.  When these waters go down, we’re anticipating a lot of homeless animals and people giving up pets.”

These incoming animals are having to receive healthcare and treatment for possible ringworm and heart worm.  “This is going to be a long-term partnership,” Fasseas said. “We anticipate they’ll be needing our help for a while and we’ll be there to support them.”  To help with this effort, head over to PAWSChicago.com or click here.  The organization is taking donations and will be trying to find homes for these displaced pets.
