New Eagles Track Featured On Dan Fogelberg Tribute Album

“Part Of The Plan,” the Eagles’ first studio recording since the death of Glenn Frey, will appear on the upcoming collection, A Tribute to Dan Fogelberg, according to Variety.  Fogelberg and the Eagles had a unique connection — in addition to the band, Joe Walsh and Fogelberg all shared a manger and confidante in Irving Azoff, Walsh produced and performed on Fogelberg’s second album, 1974’s Souvenirs, with “Part Of The Plan” serving as the album’s opening track.

In addition to the Eagles, the disc coming on November 17th also features new and old Fogelberg covers by such heavyweights as Michael McDonald, Boz Scaggs, Jimmy Buffett, Garth Brooks, Donna Summer, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with Richie Furay, Amy Grant & Vince Gill, Zac Brown, and Train, among others.  Fogelberg died on December 16th, 2007 of prostate cancer at age 56. In 2004, he made his illness public, urging men over 50 to have their prostate checked frequently.

Michael McDonald, who covers Fogelberg’s “Better Change” on the tribute set, recalled it was Fogelberg’s manager, Irving Azoff that first turned him on to the singer-songwriter’s work: “While visiting him in the early 70’s, he played me some demos of songs by a young kid from Peoria, Illinois; a part of the country were both from.  I was immediately transported to a musical place that I would look forward to returning to time and again over the years with each new release of a Dan Fogelberg album.  So proud to be part of this project.”
