Slash has confirmed that Guns N’ Roses will start work on new music in the fall. Although he had previously said there was the potential for the partially reunited group to record new songs, he had been reluctant until this point to say that fans could definitely expect to hear fresh material from the band.
Slash told Detroit radio station 101 WRIF, “The thing is, we haven’t really done anything yet, and I don’t like to say anything. You know how people used to promote s**t and lie through their teeth? So I just wanted to be honest about it, and so there was really no telling what we were gonna do at that point. But at this point, I do know that we are gonna do this run (of fall shows), and we’ve already started working on stuff. So, there you go.”
Slash also denied a recent rumor that he had already been over at singer Axl Rose‘s home studio to record, which was sparked when a photo of his gear allegedly being delivered to Rose’s house showed up online. But he added, “I am excited about what we’ve got going on and everything, so it’s gonna be cool.”
Guns N’ Roses’ fall shows — at the Louder Than Life, Austin City Limits and Exit 111 festivals — will mark the band’s first live appearances since ending its reunion tour in December 2018. That trek began in April 2016 and marked the first time that Slash, Axl and bassist Duff McKagan had performed together since 1993, which was also the last year that they recorded together as Guns N’ Roses.
