Bob Seger is “proud” that “Like a Rock” has become synonymous with Chevrolet because it helped a lot of people.  In a recent interview with Ultimate Classic Rock Nights Radio Show, he said, quote, “When Chevy asked for it, for a long time I turned it down, because I just didn’t want it to be in an ad.  [But] I’m really glad I did it now, because it sold a lot of trucks to save a lot of jobs… And, you know, [Michigan] is my home state.  So it’s a good thing.  And people keep hearing it, so that’s great!”  Chevy used the song in its ads for over a decade, primarily between 1991 to 2004.”

Bob Seger admits that “Like a Rock” is one of his favorite songs.  He added, “It’s just a powerful song and it just affected a lot of people.  Friends just thought it was one of my great ones… It got some airplay but it didn’t really [become] a big hit [on its own], you know?”

I know one thing, I can’t not think of those Chevy truck commercials when I hear it!
