Football fans will eat 20 million pounds of cheese during the big game — Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin predict

This Sunday, February 7th, many Americans will watch the Kansas Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from the comfort of their couches, and there will be no shortage of snacks!

The organization Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin is predicting Americans will chow down on more than 20 million pounds of cheese during the big game. The cheese farmers are prepared for this, noting cheesemakers have been working overtime to accommodate all of the orders they’ve gotten.

According to data recently shared by Google Trends, of the top searched-for Big Game snacks in each state, 28 of them include cheese—including cheese balls, nachos, cheeseburger sliders and queso dip.

Chief marketing officer for Wisconsin Cheese, Suzanne Fanning adds, “The desire for recipes with cheese—the ultimate comfort food—coupled with the continued craze for charcuterie boards, ensures that cheese will be the real winner of the big game.”
