Earlier this year an Avondale cat plopped his paw on some spinning pottery and blew up the internet.
Momo’s pottery antics with his human Sophia Renata have racked up millions of social media views and caused their co-creations to fly off the proverbial online shelves.
But lucky local shoppers can find new items at Wicker Park’s Renegade Craft Fair this weekend.
“It’s been quite a wild year,” Renata tells Axios. “It’s a true testament to how many people really love animals and are incredibly passionate about the arts. I’m really grateful to be part of it.”
A Chicago native, ceramicist and art teacher, Renata only recently discovered Momo’s talent.
While cats are often considered aloof, “his passion for getting involved … has been incredibly heartwarming. And having him be a part of my practice is just a lot of fun.”
“Momo loves being outside but doesn’t love a harness so he may not make an appearance [at the fair] unfortunately,” Renata tells Axios.
Renata will set up at Renegade on Division Street. Momo and Renata’s pieces range from $20 to $120.
