I took a friend out last night to a nice restaurant to celebrate his promotion at work. Not Alinea-nice, but a good restaurant.
We placed our order and were getting ready to dive into the fluffy, crusty Italian bread when I noticed there was no salt on the table. I needed it to prepare my olive oil for maximum flavor dipping…salt, pepper and a little parm…delizioso!
Instead of my lovely server I came face to face with the chef himself who told me there is a reason there is no salt on the table…his dishes are perfectly seasoned as is…no salt needed!
Ummm…thanks for the smackdown in the middle of dinner.
My pasta with a side of condescension was delicous though. Lesson learned.
