One of America’s favorite actors and one of the Chicago Cubs’ biggest celebrity fans, Bill Murray, might be in line to become the owner of the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League. Another celebrity may also be part of the new ownership with Murray, Mike Veeck, son of late Chicago White Sox owner Bill Veeck. Mike Veeck is the feature of a new Netflix sports documentary called “The Saint of Second Chances.”
Three people are involved in the ownership group looking to buy the Joliet Slammers. The third possible owner in the new investment group is Mike Veeck’s son, William, who goes by the nickname of Night Train. The Joliet City Council stadium committee is meeting next week to review the potential sale of more than 50 percent of the ownership rights of the Joliet Slammers.
News is developing but it looks like Bill Murray might be hanging out at more than just Wrigley Field next baseball season.
