Chicago’s 111th Christmas tree coming from family in Logan Square

The 111th Chicago Christmas tree has been chosen and it’s coming from a family in the Logan Square neighborhood.

This year’s tree, which was provided by the Holden-Shaddick family, is a 53-foot Colorado Blue Spruce.

Crews have already been prepping for its removal and placement in Millennium Park.

The tree was planted 50-years ago by the previous owners of the home. Crews will start removing the tree around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The tree will be delivered to Millennium Park next week and will get lit up at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 22.

Along with the Tree Lighting Ceremony, there is the holiday market, as well as the return of the holiday sing-along which is held every Friday between Dec. 6 and Dec. 20.

Ice skating at the park will start in a couple weeks.

While the city is taking one tree from Logan Square, 12 new trees will be planted in the neighborhood.
