Patrick Cassidy, a NYPD police officer, found the records for the Beatles\’ first US visit in his precinct\’s records. He told the BBC: \”After 50 years, they clean out and destroy them, so I looked up February \’64 and found the book, which would have been destroyed the following year.\”
The log lists the names of officers who, according to the BBC, \”protected The Beatles from hordes of screaming fans on their first visit to the US\”. That 1964 visit included their US TV debut on the The Ed Sullivan Show, and a performance at Carnegie Hall.
The records have been donated to Liverpool’s Magical Beatles Museum.
